BLACKOUT

No, not Lil Louis but paps favourite Britney and her comeback album.

Don't crawl under your duvet, don't smear your mascara with tears and definitely don't "leave Britney alone" because Blackout is worth your ear.

Celebrity culture (if that isn't an oxymoron) throws hundreds of lambettes to the slaughter - and the arguments about who's using who are as interesting as a Naomi Klein essay - but no matter how many times Paris Hilton gets her back doors smashed in on video, she still can't make us interested.

Like all quintessential pop muses, Britney is a canvas for image makers, producers, writers etc. So far so Kylie, but Britney is also a tragic modern female in the tradition of Christine Keeler and as such is a far more fascinating personality. If you wanna be a diva you have to fuck up, and don't we just love a fuck up eh Miss Winehouse?

Britney's status is compounded by the roll call of producers and writers on the album, from Swedish hitmakers Bloodshy & Avant, Timbaland protege Danja and (of course) The Neptunes.

Luckily for Britney, she may have forgotten her knickers and how to dance but she still knows how to make pop records. In fairness, on most of the album she serves as not so much a singer but a vocal instrument, her voice slots into place amongst the other finely tuned pieces of the glossy pop jigsaw. It's the next step of a sonic adventure that saw Toxic being played by Gilles Peterson as well as that cunt Chris Moyles.

The spin may have you believe that Jive's decision to bring the release forward was down to all the tracks being posted on blogs already, but on the strength of the material everyone should be chomping at the bit. No need to intellectualise (badly) anyway, she makes pop music after all. When you hear her serenading your trip through TOPSHOP - and you will - it'll be all the affirmation needed to at least shut that 'What The Buck' nause up. Just a pity 'Got Me High' never made the final cut.

No links here...but it's all out there.

Rebel, Rebel!

Spotted on the way to the Griffin public house today:

At least we can all rest easy now, knowing that punk's not dead (oi) when such biting satire is still on the streets.

The same artist is also working on a massive 'Tony bLIAR' banner to hang under Kingsland Rd bridge.

Picking Boogers / Direct Action

You have to love the fact that someone in an office was so offended by the actions of another that they made their own protest sign.

The first one is from a male office toilet and refers to a bogey (or should that be 'bogues') gallery on the wall about the urinal.

The second is pretty self explanatory...but it was in a women's bog which makes it WELL funnier.
